I think they moved into an older one room cabin in 1840, and the father, John Walker, started adding on to it to make it a three room home. It's larger on the inside than it looks (maybe it's a TARDIS?! The sleeping loft is large too, that's where the ladder takes you. It is one of the sturdiest ladders I've ever climbed!
I just looked up the actual dates, which seem to point to the cabin in it's present state being completed circa 1870. When I was inside it early winter 2024, I could tell it had been added to a least once, maybe twice. But I had no idea of the change of ownership and the breadth of the years before it reached it's final state.
