That area IS eerie. I worked in NC for 6 months as a travel med lab tech and lived about 45 min north of Wilmington. I visited this same spot a few times.
Hi Anita! Did you ever see a lot of people there? I was there for a couple of hours. About 5 persons, including two young children down at the boat launch on the river. An older couple parked their car by mine then hiked up of one the river trails; they were back and gone in 45 minutes. Then the two guys who evidently had parked somewhere in the upper end of the park, in their truck beside my Jeep just before I left.

The few times I went were always weekdays because I was heading home for 3 days so there wasn’t anyone there
